Ukraine’s No. 2 Marta Kostyuk spoke exclusively to BTU.org.ua ahead of her appearance at the grass-court major. She reflected on back-to-back first-round losses to world No. 9 Emma Navarro and shared her mindset heading into Wimbledon.Exclusive | Marta Kostyuk: “Nothing in life happens by accident. I really believe that nothing in life happens by accident. Even after the match in Paris, I started to re-evaluate a few things—how I approach my tennis and how I see everything that’s going on around me. So I’m proud of the way I handled those situations." "Tennis is a tough sport. You’re competing every week, and things can change in a matter of days—sometimes for the better, sometimes not. This was a pretty challenging stretch for me, and the fact that it was the grass season played a role. When I got to Berlin, practice felt okay, but once I was in the match, I couldn’t feel anything. I tried, but it was really tough to find my rhythm again." "Honestly, over the last two years, I hadn’t won a single grass-court match before Wimbledon. So I’m not too worried about the results. In previous years, I lost to players who weren’t even in the top 10. This time, it just came down to a tough draw—I didn’t get the chance to play one or two matches against lower-ranked opponents. But that’s how it goes." "I’m happy I had a full week in London to prepare, and now I feel ready for the start."  On preparing for her Wimbledon opener against qualifier Veronika Erjavec "It’s been a very intense week—both on and off the court, there’s been a lot going on. But I’m glad I managed to handle everything. Every day brings something new, and what matters most is not what happens, but how you respond to it, how you deal with it." "One small thing I’m happy about is that I’m scheduled for the first match of the day tomorrow, so it won’t be as hot. The heat over the past few days has been absolutely insane." "As for my first opponent—honestly, I just wanted to know who I was playing already. The tournament had started, and I’m not a fan of waiting until the very last moment, especially for a first-round match. I like to mentally walk through it beforehand—think about my opponent, how to play, how to prepare." "We’ll watch some of her matches, get ready, and do everything we can. I’m counting on your support—and, of course, I’m hoping for a positive result." On celebrating her birthday in London "It was a very special evening—the first international presentation of the Marta Kostyuk Foundation. We deliberately chose a cozy, intimate format—a kind of ‘cozy gathering.’" "The atmosphere was heartfelt and emotional.
